Kent County Cup
Congratulations to Kenny Nguyen of Kelloggsville High School for repeating as champion of the Kent County Cup Super Smash Bros tournament on April 19. Alberto Estrada, also of Kelloggsville, took 2nd place. Both Kenny and Alberto are 12th graders. Logan Reimbold of Caledonia and Henry Wierenga of Forest Hills Central took 3rd and 4th place, respectively.
Winners took home Steelcase gaming chairs. Open Play at the event was sponsored by West Michigan Tech Talent.
Esports are a great way for students to get in touch with their technical skills and to learn communication and leadership skills that employers are looking for. To help highlight the benefits of esports, Kent ISD Workforce Development has created the Kent County Cup, an opportunity for area high school students to learn about career paths where their skills may benefit and to have a fun day of competition. Parents and employers are invited to learn about the esports boom.
