Northview Public Schools

Strong Schools, Strong Communities

As one of the finest school districts in the state, Northview Public Schools inspires all students to achieve their individual best in our safe, secure and nurturing learning environment. Share in our excitement for learning and our commitment to educational excellence. Northview’s combination of rigorous academic standards, an excellent staff, and community involvement is a proven recipe for success.

District Mission

Northview Public Schools and its community develop literate, creative problem solvers who are respectful, productive members of society ready for continued learning.

Career Learning

We offer career and technical coursework through the Kent Career Tech Center and Cooperative Opportunities for students to work and earn credit simultaneously. Northview is leading the way in teaching employability skills through the MiGPS initiative. The MiGPS initiative is Northview’s means for ensuring that all students have the knowledge, experiences and opportunities to be successful after high school – regardless of whether they choose to enter the workforce, join the military, or enroll in a two-year or four-year institution.

Academics and Beyond

Strong academics are the basis for all of K-12 learning beginning with literacy, mathematics, science and social studies. In addition to these areas, we engage students with a wide range of courses including art, vocal and instrumental music, physical education, world language, computer science, advanced problem solving and opportunities for middle school students to earn high school credit in math and world language. Northview is one of the only school districts in the state of Michigan to have teacher librarians in our elementary buildings.

Support for Students

We work hard to support students so they succeed, including hiring the best staff to assist them. In addition, we have a team of trained clinicians at all buildings who are ready to provide prevention services, support, direction and resources for our students and families. We partner with resources in Kent County to reduce barriers and increase rapid access to help those in need. A district-wide Educational Specialist provides support working with school social workers and counselors.

Early Childhood

Early childhood is a crucial time in children's lives, a time when they engage in the world around them and learn all the basics they'll use in school and beyond. Our Great Start Readiness Preschool programs help children prepare for school success. In addition, Northview’s developmental kindergartens, pre-primary impaired program, and Bright Beginnings (for birth to kindergarten-entry aged children and their families) provide excellence in early childhood learning.
