What are the Responsibilities of an ATYP Student?
What are the responsibilities of an ATYP Parent?
ATYP parents are expected to keep communication lines open with the ATYP staff at the first sign of any concern. When students only come to class once weekly, waiting several weeks to communiicate with the instructor is never recommended.
ATYP parents are expected to have computer internet access or phone access for their child. Because ATYP classes are blended online and classroom experiences, each student also needs to have THEIR OWN EMAIL address. If a family does not have internet access, we need to know to arrange for more time online at your child's school. Having access to a printer is also helpful, however we will showing students how to upload work this year.
ATYP parents are expected to have a plan for getting their student to class in the event their child's sending school is closed. Don't wait until the first surprise snow day. Have a plan in place. Also, please schedule family vacations or doctor appointments around the ATYP calendar. Missing one ATYP day is equivilent to missing a week of class.
ATYP parents will need to help keep their child from overscheduling. Staying on top of ATYP is a skill that must be learned before filling up social or activity calendars. That may be a new skill to learn if your child has never had large amounts of homework.
